From Kerne Bridge to Redbrook by Canoe.

A gentle paddle down the River Wye.

What better way to see one of the most beautiful parts of the country than from the water of the the River Wye.

With the aid of the wonderful Kenny’s Taxis we head to Kerne Bridge, sling our canoe onto the river and gently head down stream.  Kenny is a very helpful chap and a keen canoeist.  He can shift canoes, bikes or even just people.  He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and is happy to recommend routes for canoeists, cyclists or walkers of all abilities.

Our final destination is Redbrook, but on the way we pass through Welsh Bicknor, Symonds Yat and Monmouth.  The scenery is of course stunning and we were fortunate in picking the perfect weather for our trip.

We had fun day messing about on the river with only a slight hiccup when we took the wrong channel at Symonds Yat and scraped our bottom a bit.

There are plenty of canoe hire companies on the River Wye so it’s easy to follow our route, or pick another, even if you don’t have all the necessary equipment.  From experienced paddlers to complete novices this is a trip worth taking.

We took our friend and fellow Wye Valley resident Ginny along for the ride.  She assures us she had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our excursion.
